The Helping Hands

Abdullah and Khalid were racing around the park when they heard a cry. Little Omer had tripped over a root and was sitting on the grass, holding his knee.

"If we stop, we'll lose the race," said Khalid.

Abdullah looked at Omer, then at Khalid. "The race can wait," he said.

They ran to Omer. Abdullah helped him stand up, and Khalid picked up his fallen water bottle. They walked him slowly to his mother, who was sitting on a bench.

"JazakAllahu khairan, boys," she said. "You have kind hearts."

Khalid grinned. "You know what, Abdullah? That felt better than winning."

"And Allah loves those who help others," said Abdullah. "So really, we both won."

Stopping to help someone is always the winning choice.

Talk about it together

  1. Why did Khalid not want to stop at first?
  2. How do you think Omer felt when the boys came to help?
  3. How can you be a helper at home or at school?
